I am not happy with the "We can be very proud if we understand the right doctrines and have certain opinions" part!
I believe that we should not be proud for all wisdom comes from God and no one is smarter than the other in the eyes of God!
Isn't it ironic that Brian MacLaren was talking about being humble?

well... I guess it's how we interpret what McLaren meant when he said that.
For me, I would read it as 'Some of us feel very proud when we understand the right doctrines and have certain opinions'. I think this was what he meant.
And i have to admit that I feel that way some times... :)
Ohhh okok. Thought what. I thought interpret it as
"All of us have the right to be proud cause we are more clever than other people"
